Compositions

Dennis has been the composer for such films as Purple People Eater (1988), The Punisher (1989), and Gag (2005). He is perhaps even better known in Hollywood as an orchestrator and conductor of feature film music scores.

His work can be heard in the soundtracks of Jurassic Park, Misery, Braveheart, Addams Family, Sleepless in Seattle, Heart and Souls, A League of Their Own and many others.

He has been providing services to many of the best known composers working today. Among them, John Williams, Lalo Schifrin, Dominick Frontiere, Marc Shaiman, Hans Zimmer, Eliot Goldenthal, Mark Isham and Cliff Eidelman.

Biography

Dennis is a partner in Maverick Music, a music production company scoring for films and commercials, as well as head of his own publishing company called Magic Closet Music. In addition to his career as an active film, television and jingle composer (The Punisher, Mobsters, The Shadow, Columbo), he has orchestrated and/or conducted scores for such pictures as Misery, Addams Family, Heart and Souls and A League of Their Own providing services for John Williams, Lalo Schifrin, Dominick Frontiere, Marc Shaiman, Hans Zimmer, Eliot Goldenthal, Mark Isham and Cliff Eidelman.

In addition Dennis has served as Music Supervisor on several major motion pictures as well as Music Consultant on the legendary Barbra Streisand New Year’s Las Vegas Concert. He has also composed numerous works for the concert stage.

Dennis served as International President of the Recording Musicians’ Association (RMA), in excess of 15 years. He served as a consultant and member of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Negotiating Sub-committee for every major electronic media agreement negotiated by the AFM. During that time, he was AFM liaison to both the Theatrical and Television Motion Picture Special Payments Fund, and the Phonograph Record Manufacturers’ Special Payments Fund.

He addressed the House Sub-committee on Intellectual Properties in support of Digital Performers Rights legislation that was signed into law by President Clinton in November of 1995. The following year he traveled to Japan where he negotiated and executed a “Friendship Agreement” between the Musicians Rights Commission of Japan and the RMA, which in turn has resulted in the substantial distribution of Japanese royalties to U.S. recording musicians...

CD Releases

The Punisher, based on the comic book character of the same name, was brought to the screen in 1989 with Dolph Lundgren in the lead role. It was violent, raw and stylish, even though it was not what some comic book fans expected, many having already determined how Castle should have been shown on film. Another problem was that because of studio problems, the film was not released widely in theaters and was not brought to video until years later. About 5 years ago, it was economically released on DVD, but without the stereo soundtrack, which naturally weakened the impact of the film and sadly, this brilliant score...
